For months, we had to keep this project a secret. Now we can finally reveal what we have been working on together with BYD: the new BYD ETT 44, equipped with a completely new SolarGuard styling package.

This special project also marks the start of a new partnership between SolarGuard and BYD. The first result of this collaboration was presented at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover.

A new electric truck designed to stand out

The BYD ETT 44 was developed as an electric tractor for the European long-haul transport market. For its presentation at IAA Transportation 2026, BYD wanted to create more than just a standard truck. It needed to stand out while remaining instantly recognisable as a BYD.

That is where SolarGuard came in.

The goal was clear: develop a styling package that would strengthen the appearance of the BYD ETT 44 without losing the original character and lines of the truck.

A completely new SolarGuard styling package

Because the BYD ETT 44 is an entirely new model, we couldn't simply use existing Solar Guard products. Every component therefore had to be developed specifically for this truck.

For the BYD ETT 44, we developed:

• a completely new sunvisor

• a new front spoiler

• new side skirt extensions

From the first prototypes onwards, the shapes, dimensions and proportions were tested and adjusted several times directly on the truck.

The objective wasn't simply to add styling parts. Each component needed to look like it belonged to the original design.

The sunvisor strengthens the upper lines of the cab, while the front spoiler gives the front of the truck a lower and more powerful appearance. The side skirt extensions continue these lines along the side of the vehicle.

From truck styling to one complete concept

This project went much further than developing new exterior parts.

To turn the BYD ETT 44 into one complete concept, we brought together several specialists. Label to Impress developed the design, 3D visualisations, wrap and graphics for the truck.Van Dijk Truckupholstery transformed the interior.

The lines and colours of the exterior continue into the interior, while the SolarGuard styling parts follow the same overall design.

The result isn't a collection of individual modifications. It is one complete truck in which styling, exterior design, graphics and interior come together as one concept.

From a secret project to IAA Transportation 2026

For months, work continued behind the scenes on the development and realisation of the truck. At IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, it was finally time to reveal the finished result.

The complete BYD ETT 44 was presented in its final configuration for the first time.

For us, it was especially rewarding to see a project that started with ideas, prototypes and individual components come together on one of the biggest stages in the European transport industry.

Solar Guard x BYD

This project is a great example of what SolarGuard stands for today.

We don't just develop styling products for existing truck models. We can also work with truck manufacturers, importers, dealers and other partners from an early stage to develop completely new styling concepts and products.
